Pink Shoelaces eBook Maria Michaels Reviews
'Pink Shoelaces' describes the very personal journey of grief and guilt, told from a teenager's point of view. While the often-strained relationship between the teenage Lana and her mother is something I could relate to, I found the quiet tone of the storytelling prepared me for the horror of Buscher's subject matter. While it is human to err, forgiveness is only one of the obstacles Lana faces as she learns more about herself in this touching tale of loss.
Pink Shoelaces is an impactful, well written short story. The author paints a poignant picture with a sensitive brush concerning a subject hitting close to home in today's world.
Well written short story, with big impact. The writer paints the scene with deliberate, meaningful description, drawing the reader into the inevitable of the story line. The reader can easily identify with the main character, facing the unforeseen, yet bearing the burden of guilt having not seen. Touching drama, forcing the reader to search deep for personal response. Excellently unfolded!
I enjoyed this well-written story very much. The author does a nice job of capturing the persona of a teenage girl (she must have a daughter!). The difficult subject of suicide and the guilt those left behind experience was handled well. I really felt the girl's pain and the mother's feelings as she struggled with what to do for her daughter. I also loved how the girl finds redemption and hope at the end.
A well written story about love, loss, and regret that tackles the issue of teenage suicide with wisdom and sensitivity.
